White Dog Woodworking
Owner Shannon Whidden had a 25-year “first career” in arts management, leading orchestras in Canada and the United States, and had always enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. After the pandemic, he decided to make a career shift, and White Dog Woodworking was born! Whether it’s a new cutting board, wooden utensil, or fine furniture, White Dog Woodworking is committed to creating pieces that are unique, durable, and that add comfort and beauty to every day life.
We are fortunate to live in Ontario, where there is access to incredible hard wood. We focus on building each piece with recycled and up-scaled lumber, or with locally sourced wood that is sustainably harvested. While we maintain a stock of woodworking items like turned bowls, charcuterie boards, and tablet stands, we also do custom work. We’ll work with you to create a design for furniture that is as unique as it is functional.
During the pandemic, we brought a new member into our family – a Greater Pyrenees and Maremma mix who we named Haku. She has the biggest personality we’ve ever seen in a dog, and when she’s not busy tormenting our older Australian Shepherd/Sheltie, she serves as the inspiration for the name of the shop!
